About Us

The first full weekend in August is always a hot time in Oregon’s coolest small town, Historic Silverton. And this year will be no different! Silverton’s Annual Homer Davenport Community Festival boasts an impressive festival line-up including music, food and fun! Homer has something for all. The main action will be in Silverton’s historic Coolidge-McClaine City Park.

Silverton’s most famous son, Homer Davenport, was an internationally renowned political cartoonist and journalist in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. Homer, left Silverton, fulfilling his desire to become an editorial cartoonist, but he never forgot and often mentioned his small-town Silverton Roots.

His legacy endures. Activities include the annual Lions Club Breakfast, food court, crafts fair, 10K fun-run, Parade and of course, the famous “Davenport Races.”

Homer Davenport activities have been the primary multiday festival in Silverton since 1980, providing family fun and entertainment to the local area. Sponsored by the Silverton Rotary Club, the Homer Davenport Community Festival Committee are honored to be a part of celebrating the life and times of Oregon’s first media superstar, Homer C. Davenport, Late of Silverton. For more information, visit the “Homer Page.”
