Join us Friday and Saturday, June 6-7, 2025, in the River Arena at the Douglas County Fairgrounds when sheep shearers from all over the U.S. will come to compete in blade shearing, wool handling and conventional shearing. Competitors will be attempting to qualify for the Golden Shears International Competition.
Douglas County has a rich history of shearers that have competed at the national level. Producers from around the county will be providing sheep to be shorn at the event. Douglas County sheep produce a coarse wool that is mostly used for bedding. It is a great natural material that is anti-flammable, anti-microbial and helps maintain an even temperature.
